Backstage at ICONZ
A lifelong obsession with the weird, the wonderful, and the wonderfully weird is what sparked ICONZ into existence. Sci‑fi, horror, fantasy, rock, gaming, cult classics - if it lives somewhere between the pages of a comic, the glow of a screen, or the back wall of a merch‑packed venue, it’s been part of the journey.
From Comic Cons to the High Street
ICONZ began life on the road: comic cons, geek markets, and fandom‑fuelled fayres across the UK (and sometimes we still do.) Years of hauling boxes and suitcases, setting up stalls, and talking shop with fellow fans eventually led to something bigger - a permanent home. The first bricks‑and‑mortar store opened on Bridge Street in Newton‑le‑Willows on none other than Star Wars Day - May the 4th, 2019.
The community grew, the shelves filled, and the fandom energy spilled over - so the shop levelled up. ICONZ moved to Market Street in January 2020, and later expanded again into a bigger, louder, more treasure‑packed space on the same street.
Levelling Up the Universe
As the fanbase grew, so did the vision. ICONZ continued to evolve its range, its identity, and its place on the high street - with the Newton-le-Willows store proudly at the heart of the brand and its future direction.
A Small Business With Big Fandom Energy
ICONZ is - and always has been - a small, family‑run venture powered by passion, personality, and a deep love for all things alternative. Over the years, the shelves have shifted more toward rock, metal, and alt-culture merch, but the spirit remains the same: fandom first, always.
Every product, every conversation, every chaotic corner of the shop comes from genuine love for the culture. And now, after years on the high street, ICONZ is stepping into the online world too - bringing its curated mix of band tees, collectibles, oddities, and nostalgia to fans everywhere.
ICONZ isn’t just a shop. It’s a backstage pass into a little pocket universe where fandoms collide, nostalgia thrives, and everyone’s inner geek - or rocker - gets to come out and play.
